Like the rest of my fellow commissioners, I’ve dug into how hospitals work - the services they provide and how those services are funded. 

I am committed to being both open and transparent. I am committed to hearing from all stakeholders both before and after actions are taken. Below are some thoughts related to last week’s action to annex land owned by Stormont Vail Health into the city limits.

What some may perceive as an attempted takeover of economic development in Emporia is instead, in the opinion of one Emporia City Commissioner, an opportunity to further economic opportunities for the local community.

Since joining the City Commission in August 2024, I’ve received both criticism and praise. Perhaps surprisingly, I appreciate both. The kudos affirm I’m making decisions constituents support while the criticism—though sometimes hurtful—helps me learn and grow.

Let’s talk TGT. More specifically, let’s talk about Visit Emporia. The mission of Visit Emporia is to provide quality, memorable experiences, inspiring people to visit Emporia. I hope we can all get behind that mission!
